They believed people should strive for laughter, joy, and peace. Taoism also encourages people to worship and be in tune with nature through meditation. They also believe that rules make people act worse, if everyone is in tune with nature a government would not be needed. The yin and yang symbol represents opposites in the universe and harmony comes when the yin and yang symbol is balanced. Buddhism
Buddhism was founded by Prince Gautama of India. He left his life as a prince after seeing the suffering that goes on in the world to search for the meaning of life. He soon became known as "Buddha" (Awakened one). Buddhism beliefs are that you must follow the Four Noble Truths and the Eight Fold Path. The four noble truths are that life is filled with suffering, suffering is caused by people's wants, suffering can be ended if people stop wanting things (money, fame, possessions), and to stop wanting you must follow the eight fold path. After you die they believe in reincarnation, but when you reach Nirvana the cycle of being reborn into a new life is broken. Also, your karma can effect your life and your chance of reaching Nirvana. In order to reach Nirvana you must complete the eight fold path. The eight fold path is to know the truth, intend to resist evil, don't say anything to hurt others, respect life, property and morality, work at a job that won't hurt others, free your mind from evil, be in control of your feelings and thoughts, and practice concentration. The motto for Buddhism would be "to not want is to not suffer."
